Roam for musicians

Hello!

I am a new Roam user and I’m interested in how musicians use Roam.

I have several use cases:

  • Track the different types of things I’m trying to improve (examples: transcription, theory, triads, improv)
  • My own original songs (‘title drawer’, interesting riffs, snippets of lyrics & ideas, complete songs)
  • Cover songs to learn and play/collaborate (lyrics, notes such as key & time signature, notation etc)

I’m looking for input from others on how to templatize things like these in Roam. Suggestions?

Thanks!

Michael

I use Roam to keep track of my progress on songs that I am learning on the ukulele. I also keep track of common chord progressions and see where these chord progressions show up in all the songs that I play or am thinking of playing.

Also a musician here (not full-time). Just started with Roam. Gonna use it for different notes (like mixing or songwriting tips) and things I come by and stuff I work on, plus lyrics and ideas for song and lyrics. Let’s see how it goes.

Do you use the same database for everything, including music, or do you use a separate one just for this?

Hello!

Personally I just use the same DB for everything.
